3 Chip Shots You Need Around the Green
Danny Maude has three shots that if you learn them could save you a lot of shots during your round of golf .
Danny discusses how to play a chip and run shot. He starts by explaining that if one tries to play a chip and run shot, the ball may bounce off the rough ground and release too far away from the hole. To avoid this, one needs to loft up the ball. Danny has chosen a 60-degree lob wedge to play this shot, as you need more power in this shot for club head speed to get the spin.
Once he has the right club, he plays the shot by getting into a stance with his weight on his front foot, making sure the ball is in the middle of the stance, and taking the club back to a 9 o’clock position. It is then a case of swinging the club down, keeping the hands ahead of the ball and hitting down on it. This will create backspin, making the ball stop quickly on the green. Finally, Danny advises that it is important to practice this shot to become proficient in it.
